Augustine C. Wood

Augustine "Tina" C. Wood of St. Paul, Ark., passed away April 3, 2014, at the age of 85. Mrs. Wood was born in Hagerstown, Md., on Aug. 27, 1928. She loved animals and enjoyed painting. Mrs. Wood was fond of saying that we should leave this earth better than we found it. To that end, Mrs. Wood successfully lobbied for the widening of Highway 16 and the construction of a bridge in Combs. She was also a co-founder of the St. Paul Fire Department. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Wood. She is survived by four children, Marie Hall of Fayetteville, Ark., Verma Cagno of New Castle, Pa., Linda Patrick of Delaney, Ark., and Allen Wood of Springdale, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. There will be no memorial service, instead, and in accordance with Mrs. Wood's wishes, her ashes will be scattered on the farm in Combs where she lived with her late husband.
