Ivo Kinney

Mr. Ivo Kinney, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, in Bella Vista, Ark. He was born in Alton, Iowa, on May 25, 1925, to Kathryn and James Kinney. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy. He married Josephine Baker on Sept. 28, 1947, in Alton, Iowa, and they resided in Pomeroy, Iowa, where they were the parents of seven children (three boys and four girls). He owned and operated the Pomeroy Cleaners for 32 years and additionally the Fonda Cleaners for 16 years, retiring in 1985. His wife, Josephine, passed away in 1985. He married Mary L. Klinzing on Oct. 2, 1987, in West Des Moines, Iowa, and they moved to Bella Vista in September of 1989, where he became a member of the St. Bernard Church. He played golf and loved to bowl and was a member of the St. Bernard's league for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his children, Marge (Jerry) Ellingson, Lincoln, Neb., Jack (Jane), Urbandale, Iowa, Jeanne, Bancroft, Iowa, Lu (Gary) Julius, Humboldt, Iowa, Bob (Kathy), San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Carol (Dave) Mann, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Scott (Deb), Pella, Iowa; and two stepchildren. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. At his request, there will be no local service, but services will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pomeroy, Iowa, and burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
