Erma Louise Plumlee

Erma Louise Plumlee went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2013, in Springdale, just six days short of her 95th birthday. She was born on June 9, 1918, to Myron (Pete) & Zulema Teters in Holdenville, Okla. She was a 1936 graduate of Springdale High School, where she played basketball for the Lady Bulldogs. While in high school, she worked at Harp's Grocery Store on East Emma Avenue in Springdale. She married Marvin Plumlee on Oct. 1, 1938. She worked at the Arkansas Brokerage on Emma Avenue for many years before rejoining Harp's IGA as a checker until her retirement in 1977. Even after retirement, she continued to serve Harp's in a limited capacity as a secret shopper. She also filled her early retirement years as a substitute teacher in the Springdale School District. Louise also taught four-year-olds in Sunday School for several decades and was a member of (First Baptist Church) Cross Church of Springdale. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; one son, Harold Dean Plumlee; one brother; three sisters; and one granddaughter, Tammie Louise Plumlee. She is survived by four daughters, Peggy Bailey of Fayetteville, Marva Boatright of Springdale, Nelda Netherton and husband, Darrel of Springdale and Becky Chapman and husband, Larry of Siloam Springs; two sons, Glen Plumlee and wife, Patti Jo of Springdale and Jimmy Plumlee of Bethel Heights; three sisters, Marie Dunivan of Tahlequah, Okla., Helen Brightwell and husband, A.J. of Rogers and Carolyn Bailey of Tulsa, Okla.; and one brother, Jim Teters and wife, Katherine (Kitty) of Springdale. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude for the loving care and compassion shown by the staff of Home-style Assisted Living and Circle of Life Hospice. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. The celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Sisco Funeral Chapel.
