Marvin 'Mac' McCain Jr.

Marvin "Mac" McCain Jr. of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away July 17, 2013, at Circle of Life Hospice, Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 88 years. Marvin was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Bessmer, Ala., to parents Ethel Boatner and Marvin McCain. He was a graduate of Peters High School, New Orleans, La., class of 1944; graduate of Tulane University, New Orleans, La., class of 1948. Marvin "Mac" played football while at Tulane from 1944-1948. He was a star fullback and kicker. Mac also ran track from 1944-1948 and earned an SEC title in the long jump. Mac was a champion tennis player at New Orleans City Park Tennis Center. Mac was an avid golfer in Bella Vista and belonged to several golf leagues; he also loved traveling, dancing, music and hiking. After graduating from Tulane, Marvin coached at Jesuit High School, New Orleans, La. Marvin then joined Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans, La., and retired as vice president, repair and conversion, after 42 years of service. Marvin "Mac" was a member First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, past president of Methodist Men and Stephen Minister. Marvin "Mac" married Corine Cuccia in 1944, and had two daughters, Patty, husband, David Seal, and Marlene, deceased, husband, Sterling Temento; grandchildren, Samantha Seal, Adam Seal, Louis Temento, Karen Astugue, Lauren Temento; great-grandchildren, Katherine Astugue, Megan Astugue and Logan Astugute. Marvin "Mac" married Juanita "Nita" in 1979. Stepchildren, David McLane (deceased), Gill McLane, wife, Lynn, Todd McLane, wife, Wanda, Duane McLane, wife, Dee Dee, and John McLane; step-grandchildren, Jared McLane, Alec Grigsby, Morgan Grigsby, Ryan McLane, Natalie McLane, Foster McLane and Alison McLane. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Sterling Temento; and stepson, David McLane. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista. Arrangements are made by Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
