James Melvin Harrison, 65, of West Fork died, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Willard Walker Hospice. He was born May 16, 1947, in Mulberry, Ark., to Jess Harrison and Reba Provence in Harrison. He was drafted for service in the Army after high school and as he would say "he served 24 months and one day in Korea." He worked many years as a sub-contractor. He started working for George's in 1997 and retired in July 2009. He continued to raise cattle and work on the farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and participating in his grandchildren's activities. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Calvin Harrison; and two daughters, Tywana and Patty Coker. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Loquita Harrison of the home; two sons, Shane and Kirk Harrison; two daughters, Candy Steele and Penny Borgerding; his mother, Reba Harrison; very special nephew, Stacy Harrison; two nieces; 15 grandchildren; and several other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Beard's Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Baptist Ford Church in Greenland with the Rev. Irvin Hutchins and Mike Stoltz officiating. Burial will follow at Baptist Ford Cemetery.
