Allen Frank Davis

Allen Frank Davis, age 73, of Duxbury, Mass., died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, with his adoring family surrounding him. He leaves his loving wife of more than 49 years, Mary Jo (Schulz) Davis. Devoted father and father-in-law of Natalie Davis and Sean Todd of South Dennis, Mass., Jennifer Davis and husband, Michael Pollard, of Hingham, Mass., and Alison and husband, Paul Lindquist, of Plymouth, Mass. Proud grandpa of Dylan, Conrad, Willa, Nicole and Ashley. Also survived by dear sister, Louise and husband, Jerry Smith, of Saginaw, Mich.; and nieces and nephews, Laurie Smith of California, Karen Souran of New Jersey, Jeff Smith of Colorado, Sue Denman of Michigan, David Dickson of Florida, Stephanie Wolfskill of Texas and Steven Dickson of Arkansas. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Florence Marie; and father, Donald Joseph. Al graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in civil engineering and later earned a master's in public administration from SUNY Albany. He was a licensed professional engineer in Massachusetts, New York and Colorado, and a licensed site professional specializing in overseeing environmental remediation, conducting water resource planning and analyzing impacts of waste-to-energy facilities. He retired in 2007 from SAIC and consulted thereafter with Prime Engineering. He enjoyed vacationing along the shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, walking on Duxbury Beach, watching birds, fishing with his buddies, sailing, joking with his grandchildren and being surrounded by his family. After retiring, he participated in numerous history courses through Duxbury Senior Center's Lifelong Learning Program. Always ready with his mechanical pencil, his ability to explain a math problem or any technical issue with patience and respect will be sorely missed by those who sought his sage counsel. We love you, Dad and Al. Visitation will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street (Rt. 106), Kingston, on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 601 Tremont St., Duxbury, on Nov. 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. Internment immediately following the mass at Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
