Lavina Newingham Florio, of Fayetteville, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, after increasing long-term health issues. She was 91. Born in Keiser, Ark., on Oct. 2, 1921, to Eddie and Olpha Dills, her early life and school years were spent in Parma, Mo. She spent much of her life in Chicago and Springdale, Ark. She was an active member of Cross Church Springdale. She was an avid traveler, enjoyed her canasta group and spending time with family and friends. Lavina was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Newingham; her second husband, Gene Florio; siblings, Curtis Dills, JC Dills and Ruth Ferguson; daughter, Eddie Jane Doster; son-in-law, Larry Doster; and great-grandson, Matthew Anderson. She was the beloved mother of Doug (Jan) Newingham; loving grandmother to Debbie (Steve) Anderson, Tracy (David) Zurborg, Travis (Elizabeth) Doster, Mike (Kari) Newingham, Curt Newingham and Ashley (David) Bednash; doting great-grandmother to Katie and Emily Anderson; Andrew, Philip and William Zurborg; Mike, Megan and Molly Newingham; Samuel and Nicholas Doster; and Matthew and Maggie Bednash. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, with the Rev. Charlie Foster and Ken Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery.
