Jo Anne Miller, 73, of Fayetteville died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, in Fayetteville. She was born April 2, 1939, in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Paul Clarence Mayes and Bessie Maidee Hartfield Mayes. She grew up in Jasper, Ark., and graduated in the 1957 class of Jasper High School in which she was the class valedictorian. She also attended Arkansas Tech University. Jo Anne retired from Roy, Lambert, Lovelace and Bingham as a legal secretary after 20-plus years. She was the secretary of the Hinton Bible Fellowship Class and the chairman of the Lord's Supper Committee at University Baptist Church. She was the secretary and newsletter chairman of the Friends of Devil's Den State Park. She loved Razorback baseball. Jo Anne married John N. "Jack" Miller Sr. on Dec. 31, 1958, in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her son, John N. "Jay" Miller Jr.; brother, Paul C Mayes Jr.; sister, Doris Crowder; and her great-grandson, Noble Ray Cole. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jack Miller; daughter-in-law, Cristy Miller; daughter, Judith K. "Judy" Harmon and her husband, Duane; son, Jeff and his wife, Terri; sister, Mickey Morgan; grandson, Ryan Miller; granddaughters, Kara Cole and her husband, Adam, Marcy Harmon, Katie Fink and her husband, Matt, Kayla Harmon, Maddy Harmon; great-granddaughter, Nora Cole; and her cat, Ewok. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at University Baptist Church.
