Wallace Robert South, age 63, and longtime resident of Fayetteville, passed away Oct. 1, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home of aggressive lymphoma. Wally was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Hazleton, Iowa, to parents Walter South and Betty Olson South. He grew up in Iowa, moving to Northwest Arkansas as a young man. Wally worked for many years as a radio announcer and was united in marriage to Carolyne Sue Price in April of 1988. He was a member of the Baptist denomination, was known for his sense of humor, and enjoyed Razorback sports and spending time with his family. Wally was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carolyne Sue Price Wilson South of Fayetteville; two sons, Craig Wilson and wife, Teresa, of Fayetteville and Todd Wilson and wife, Remonah, of Fayetteville; daughter, Nancy Canoy and husband, Ira, of Springdale; grandsons, Ryan and wife, Tina, Chad and wife, Melissa, Jason, Josh and wife, Katie, Blake and wife, Kari, Jesse, Jacob and wife, Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Emilee, Ethan, Caleb, Emma Grace and Eli, who is on the way; cousin, Duane Kellogg; and a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of life memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct., 4, 2012, at Sovereign Grace Church, formerly Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, on Habberton Road in Fayetteville. Graveside services will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.
