Rupa Pestonji Adarkar, age 90, of Rogers, died May 25, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville. She was born in Barrackpore, India, on May 10, 1922, to Rustomjee and Hazari Pestonji. Her parents were well known in Indian society as her father, after graduating from Oxford University in England, founded a hospital in India that still exists. Following the death of her mother, who died during the birth of her only brother, and her father, who died shortly after his wife, the seven surviving sisters were placed in a boarding school. She married Manohar Adarkar who preceded her in death in the 1950s. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Shashi, and four sisters. She immigrated to the U.S. and became a citizen in 1968. Survivors include her daughter, Meena Bowling and husband Douglas of Rogers; sons, Ravi Adarkar and wife Cynthia of Dallas, Texas, Ashok Adarkar of Benton; sisters, Perrin Jacobs of the United Kingdom, Sherra Raymond of Calcutta, India; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. The family would like to thank the staff of Innisfree Nursing and Rehab for their care and friendship during the last four years of Rupa's life. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and her cremated remains will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later time.
