Dewey Coleman Whittemore

Dewey Coleman Whittemore, 87, of La Habra, Calif., died May 12, 2012. He was born July 7, 1924, in Crossroads, Ark., to Garland and Dora Whittemore. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and received Bronze Star. He was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church in Fayetteville. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Warren Whittemore and Waldon Whittemore; and three sisters, Myrle Johnson, Lela Gaddis and Ruth Tooley. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Marie Whittemore; son, Stan Whittemore and wife Linda of La Habra, Calif.; daughter, Sue Pearson of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Gary Pearson of Springdale, Kelly Pearson of Fayetteville, Karna Cowan and husband Shane of Elkins, Nathan Whittemore and wife Jodie and Joshua Whittemore and wife Heather, both of La Habra, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Beard's Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Crossroads Community Church, 32561 Highway 295, Hindsville, AR 72738. Burial will be at the Boatright Cemetery.
