Robert Daniel Beaver

Robert Daniel (Bob) Beaver, 81, of Gravette, Ark., died Monday, April 30, 2012, at Concordia in Bella Vista. Robert was born Oct. 9, 1930, at the farm home south of Quinter, Kan. He was the youngest son of D.W. and Hulda (Sellberg) Beaver. He attended elementary school at Fairview District #5 in Gove County and graduated from Quinter High School in 1949. He was a member of the Banner Methodist south of Collyer, Kan., and later transferred his membership in Gravette, Ark. He was inducted into the Army, Jan. 21, 1952, at Kansas City. He was with the 155 inf. 31st Division at Camp Atterbury, Ind. After a leave in 1953, he was with Company D 5th H.V.T.K. Bm.CCR, 6th Arm'd Division, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Pfc. Robert D. Beaver and Ida Marie Morley were married June 1953 at the Anna Morley home in Warrensburg, Mo. Their first home was at Rolla, Mo. He left the States, July 31, 1952, for Germany. He was promoted to corporal in March 1954. He received the Army of Occupation Medal for duty in Germany and the National Defense Service Medal. He returned to the States and received his discharge for the Army, Aug. 12, 1954. He was a member of V.F.W. They went to Amarillo, Texas, to live in October 1954. He worked for P.E. 1 Corporation - 2-Way Radios Sales, then was transferred to Ulysses, Kan., in 1965. A few years later, they moved to Tribune, Kan., where he worked for Sunflower Telephone Company Incorporated and was also a radio technician. He was active and held offices in the Veterans of Foreign Wars there. After retirement they bought property near Gravette, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Marie; daughter, Barbara Marie; and three sons, Robert Arthur, Donald Eugene and Daneal Ward. He is survived by two grandsons, Paul Tyler Beaver of Oakley, Kan., Robby Beaver of Anderson, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date in Collyer, Kan.
