Lawrence "Larry" Daniel, 58, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Monday, April 30, 2012. He was born June 19, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., to Richard I. Daniel and Jane Ann Daniel. He moved to Rogers at the age of four when Daisy Manufacturing relocated to the area from Plymouth, Mich. He graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas and received his MBA in finance and economics from Northeastern University. He started his banking career in Rogers in 1993. In 2010, he retired as president of a local bank. Having been appointed to the Rogers City Council on Aug. 14, 2001, he served unopposed from 2002 to April 30, 2012. Larry considered it a great honor to serve on the council, and over the 11-year span, missed only one meeting. He was also very active in many organizations, including the Rogers Rotary Club, served on the Rogers Library Board, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission and was a member of Whitey's Chicken Cookin' Crew. Larry was well-known for putting others before himself and providing life-changing opportunities to many throughout Northwest Arkansas. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and Razorback football. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Ann Daniel, in 1976. Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diana M. Daniel; two sons, L. Isaac Daniel and wife, Erin, of Bentonville, Ark., Garret Daniel and wife, Ashley, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; father, Richard Daniel and wife, Martha, of Rogers; three brothers, Rick Daniel and wife, Nancy, of Springdale, Ark., Drew Daniel and wife, Wendy, of Rogers, Robert Daniel of Rogers; one sister, Katie Daniel of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two grandchildren, Hadley Daniel and Sutton Daniel, both of Bentonville. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Ben Rowell and the Rev. Carness Vaughan officiating. The burial will be at Pinnacle Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry Daniel's honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Network, www.pancan.org.
