Max Newman

Max Newman, 84, of Rogers, departed this life on March 2, 2012, in Fayetteville. He was born on Sept. 26, 1927, to Mary Newman. Max loved to fish and enjoyed working in his garden. He was famous for his family fish fries. Max also loved being a greeter in the garden center of the Rogers Walmart, Store Number 1, where he worked for 10 years. He is preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Bob Yoes; a sister, Liz Peters; and a son, Ronnie Neighbors. Max leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Nettie, of the home; two sons, Dale Neighbors of Tyler, Texas, and Jim Neighbors of Fayetteville; a daughter, Linda Rigsbee of Rogers; a brother, Bill Yoes of Greenland; four sisters, Claudie Jones of Springdale, Jerry Tony of Rogers, Gene Stout of Springdale and Kay Simmons of Farmington. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held to celebrate Max's life at 2 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.
