A memorial service celebrating the life of LaWanna Mundy, age 88, will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel, Fayetteville, today, June 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Andrew Hall will preside. Graveside services will be immediately following at Fairview Cemetery. LaWanna, the youngest child of Oscar and Jessie Harmon Andrews, was born on Sept. 18, 1923, in Washington County near Wheeler, Ark. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was married to Joe E. Mundy for 46 years until his death in 1992. Her husband, parents and brother, Harold Andrews, preceded LaWanna in death. LaWanna graduated from University High School in Fayetteville and attended Business College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville for over 50 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved God and her family, was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed camping and quilting with her friends. Her two sons and spouses, Rodney Mundy and Shirley of Kennesaw, Ga., Scott Mundy and Terri of Bossier City, La.; and her sister, Kathleen Lamb and husband, Grady, of Siloam Springs, survive LaWanna. She had five grandchildren, Greg Mundy, Dr. Kimberly Lim, Sarah Estess, Melinda Boncheff and Eric Mundy; as well as four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. The family is grateful to Patty Linder, Carol Cliburn and Willis Knighton Hospice of Bossier City, La., for their loving care of LaWanna. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fayetteville, Ark., in her name.
