Charles Michael Rook

Charles Michael “Mike” Rook, 64, of Rogers, died Jan. 30, 2012, at his home. He was born in Searcy, Ark., on Sept. 3, 1947, to Hazel Faye (Bailey) and Charles Franklin Rook. Mike graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in North Little Rock in 1965 and received a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a minor in accounting from Arkansas State University in 1969. He married Barbara (Carroll) Rook in Houston, Texas, on Dec. 30, 1985. Mike was a 40-year veteran of the food industry, working with Armour Food Co., Decker Food Co., ConAgra Foods and was currently employed by Tyson Foods Inc. Mike’s professional career included sales, marketing and executive management positions. He was well-known for his leadership skills, as a strong team player and looked to by many as a mentor within the industry. Mike was an active member of First Baptist Church of Rogers and served in the First Impressions Ministry and on the baptism committee. He was past president of Gideons International, Rogers Chapter. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Rook, and their son, Alexander Michael Rook; daughter, Shannon Davis and husband, Kevin, of Bentonville; sister, Vickie Johnson of Little Rock; brothers-in-law, Bill Carroll, David Carroll and Timothy Carroll, all of Pittsburgh; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; five nieces and four nephews. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with services beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 3364 W. Pleasant Grove Road, Rogers, officiated by Dr. Wes George. Entombment will be private. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to First Baptist Church of Rogers; Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkoma.
