Ruth Ann Horner

Ruth Ann Horner, the daughter of Orval E. and Ethel May Moon, was born Nov. 11, 1927, in Emporia, Kan. She passed peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 84. She received her education at Haviland Bible College and Friends University, a Quaker college. On April 18, 1948, she was united in marriage with Robert Kirk Horner. The couple made their home in Derby, Kan. They have resided in Centerton, Ark., since 2009. She was employed by Boeing Aircraft Co., Derby U.S.D. 260 and the accounting department of Wichita Via Christi Medical Center. She enjoyed and was very talented and precise in hand-crafting of all kinds from quilting and card-making to wheat-weaving. Her life motto comes from the book of Ruth 1:16-17. Ruth loved life and God was very good to her. She has been preceded in passing by her parents; two sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by her husband, Robert K.; her daughter, Cheryl Austin and her husband, Bruce; her son, Robert S. Horner and his wife, Vicky; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Moon of Pennsylvania. A small, private family memorial will be held in lieu of a public service.
