Charles Richard Forbush

Charles Richard Forbush, 76, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Dec. 22, 2011, at Concordia Health and Rehab. He was born on March 14, 1935, to Paul Forbush and Josephine Polus Forbush. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Army and became a paratrooper with 36 jumps before being discharged in 1956. He married Norma Jean Yancey on July 5, 1980. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Cal State Northridge in California and spent 13 years teaching math at Eastside Elementary School and one year in Greensburg, Kan. He also worked on the B&O Railroad, at Teledyne in California and he and his wife were owners of Burton Floral and Bucklin Market in Bucklin, Kan., before retiring and moving to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2001. He was a member of the American Legion, past commander of Post 341, loved golf, bowling, tennis and was an avid card player. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and spouse; and one sister and spouse. He is survived by his wife of Bella Vista; one daughter, Roxanne (Chuck) Farmer of West Virginia; four stepsons, Craig (Eula) Yancey of Sheridan, Wyo., Doug (Gail) Yancey of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark (Jill) Yancey of Denver, Colo., Ron (Ronda) Yancey of Bucklin, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Susan (Mike) Frainey of Damascus, Ore.; 10 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; nephew, Rick Mays of Bella Vista; and other nephews and nieces. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with Father Barnabas Maria-Susai officiating. A memorial service will be on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at the Bella Vista Community Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jeff Reed officiating, with military honors by the Bella Vista Honors Guard.
