Paul Jack Forgey

Paul Jack Forgey, age 92, formerly of Independence, Mo., passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2012, at Doctors Healthcare in Dallas, Texas. He was born on Sept. 28, 1919, in Independence, Mo., to his parents, Lamont and Margaret Forgey. Paul was one of five children. He married Virginia Dickinson in San Angelo, Texas, on Nov. 25, 1944. They had two children. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1937. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945. Paul retired from a 40-year career at the Amoco refinery in Sugar Creek, Mo., in 1980. Paul and Virginia moved to Bentonville, Ark., upon retirement, where they enjoyed many happy and active years. Paul was an avid golfer and usually played three rounds a week at Bella Vista with his group of buddies, the "Rinky Dinks." Paul was a member of Unity Church in Unity Village, Mo. Paul loved big band music, and he and Virginia enjoyed dancing together throughout their marriage. Paul will be remembered by his children, daughter, Paula (grandchildren, Marcus Assefa and Belaye Assefa), and daughter, Janet (husband, Michael Hahn, granddaughter, Erin Becker, and step-grandchildren, Captain Grant Hahn USMC, Heather Hahn, and Hayley Hahn). He is also survived by his brother, Robert Forgey; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased in death by his wife, Virginia; his father, Lamont Forgey; his mother, Margaret Forgey; and brothers, Leon and Hurshel Forgey; and sister, Louise Forgey Kennard. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service for Paul at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133.
