Mark H. Phillips

Mark H. Phillips, age 52, of Elm Springs died Feb. 27, 2012, at the Earlene Howard Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. He was born April 23, 1959, in Fayetteville, Ark., the son of the late Maj. Gen. Thomas Martin and Norma Jeannine Hale Phillips. He was a member of the Springdale Christian Church and he was the vice president of strategic planning and development for P.A.M. Transport. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1977 and had attended the University of Arkansas. Mark was an avid fisherman and was a past competitor on the FLW tour. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Kem Phillips of the home; one son, Jonathan Phillips and his fiancee Carleigh Harris of Fayetteville; one daughter, Jennifer Parker and her husband, Yancy, of Fayetteville; his mother, Norma Jeannine Hale Phillips Newman and her husband, (Retired Col.) Larry Newman of Berryville; one sister, Jaquita Phillips Ball and her husband, Ramsay, of Fayetteville; four brothers, James Charles Phillips of Stover, Mo., Thomas Martin Phillips Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Green Forest, (Retired Gen.) Clay Newman and his wife, Elinor, of Cassville, Mo., and (Retired Col.) Clyde "Brud" Newman and his wife, Carol, of Berryville; one grandchild, Grady Parker; and several nieces and nephews. A public visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Elm Springs Cemetery with Daniel Dickard officiating under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
