Billye Jean Monnington

Billye Jean Monnington, 87, of Bentonville departed this life on Feb. 24, 2012, in Springdale, Ark. She was born Sept. 21, 1924, to C.E. and Ada Hukill. She graduated from high school at Spade, Texas, and then Plainview Business College at Plainview, Texas, after which she was employed by the Air Force as a stenographer. She was married to Erv Monnington in 1944 at Childress, Texas. After the war she and her husband moved to Overton, Neb., where they made their home until retiring to Bentonville in 1976. Billye was a homemaker and worked as a substitute clerk at Overton Post Office for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf. She was a charter member of the Ladies Nine Hole League, a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, a past member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by both parents and an infant brother, Troy Hukill. Billye leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 68 years, Erv Monnington of Bentonville; a son, Pete Monnington and wife Carolyn of Bentonville; a daughter, Linda Oliver and husband Rick of Springdale; two granddaughters, Amy Harris and husband Kyle of Springdale and Ginnie Soloman and husband Nolan of Bentonville; a grandson, Scott Monnington of Bentonville; two great-grandsons, Nick and Dylan Harris; and three great-granddaughters, Alexis, Bradie and Brooklyn Soloman. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bentonville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones are encouraged to make a donation in Billye's memory to Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale.
