Richard Carl Zemke

Richard Carl Zemke, 88, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at his home in Rogers. He was born April 11, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., to Charles Zemke and Frieda Czarnowsky Zemke. After retiring from Western Electric he moved to Northwest Arkansas where he enjoyed fishing on Beaver Lake and doing fine woodwork in his shop. He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 29 years, and a wonderful husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patricia Bright Zemke; one son, Charles Zemke of Rogers; and one daughter, Jacqueline H. Zemke Lahera and husband, Hector, of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Messina and husband, Louis, of Boca Raton, Fla.; and one nephew, Wayne Wagemann and wife, Katherine, of Des Moines, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers with the Rev. Gordon Besel officiating.
