Oleta V. Gattis died on Feb. 8, 2012. She was born on Oct. 7, 1919, in Sadler, Texas, to Benjamin Franklin and Nora Bullard Wood. She attended Texas State College for Women and graduated from North Texas State Teachers College. She married James Loyd Gattis in 1943. They moved to Little Rock in 1945, where she taught in public and private schools. Oleta was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ until 1985, when she moved to New Braunfels, Texas. There, she enjoyed reading history, bridge, and traveling. She was preceded in death by: her parents; siblings Clarence, Charles, John, Dorothy, Clayton, Leslie, Luther, Norris, Benjamin; and her husband. She is survived by: her daughter, Betty Ann Stratemann and husband Martin of New Braunfels; her son, James Loyd Gattis II and wife Lyn of Springfield, Mo.; her sister, Laura Beth Siebman and husband Alford of Sadler; her grandchildren: Scott Stratemann and wife Tomoko of New Braunfels; Stacy Stratemann Killen and husband Robb of Nashville, Tenn.; James Loyd Gattis III and wife Janna of Kansas City; and Mary Gattis Norton and husband Dan of Nashville; and her great-grandchildren: Sebastian Stratemann, Elizabeth Norton, Katherine Norton. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., Monday, Feb. 13, at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to New Braunfels Christian Academy, 995 Mission Hills Drive, New Braunfels, Texas 78130.
