Isaac 'Ike' Day

Isaac "Ike" Milton Day, a strong soldier of God, went home on Feb. 10, 2012, at the age of 76 years. He was born the third child of Horace Raymond and Fay D. Day on March 7, 1935, in Greenfield, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Robert; one sister, Charlotte Laverne; and a great-granddaughter, Julian Nicole Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda Lynette Day of the home; four children, Raymond Day of Springdale, Mike Day and his wife Marsha of Bentonville, Sharon Kelley and her husband Bill of Winslow, Terri Sligar and her husband Tim of Springdale; one brother, Farris Day of Porterville, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and last but not least their schnauzer, "Snootie." He was a star athlete and a graduate of Porterville High School in Porterville, Calif. He married the love of his life, Wanda Lynette Buffington on Aug. 4, 1952, in Eureka, Calif. He rose to the position of Lieutenant Commander for the Tulare County Sherriff's Office in California. He moved his family to Springdale in 1969 where he retired from Springdale Public Schools. Ike left this physical life to continue his spiritual life in the presence of his Lord God and Savior. We love you Grandpa, Daddy, Honey, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew and friend. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springdale with Pastor Dennis Murray officiating. There will be no visitation.
