Sally (Aikman) McAtee, 79, of Rogers, Ark., peacefully departed this world for the next great adventure on April 12, 2011. She was at home surrounded by her family. Sally was born on March 14, 1932, in Port Huron, Mich., to Eileen and George Aikman. In search of bluer skies and warmer weather, she headed to Dallas, Texas in 1955 where she met the love of her life, Robert Francis McAtee. Married for 55 years, Sally and Bob raised their three daughters in Duncanville, Texas. They later retired to Boerne, Texas, and then to Fayetteville, Ark., where they have spent the past two years. With an adventurous spirit, Sally was always first in line to jump the waves, rent a moped, ride a horse, hop on a sled, or sit-ski in the Rockies. She loved to entertain and had a gift for bringing family and friends together. She gave generously of herself to family, friends, church work and volunteerism. Sally's vision of a close-knit loving family is carried on through her children and grandchildren. Sally is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert McAtee; her three daughters, Lynne McAtee-Harris of Nederland, Colo., Lori McAtee Snelgrove of Fayetteville, Ark., Lianne C. Pacl of Bentonville, Ark.; and grandchildren: Alexandra, Keegan, Hayden, River, Nicholas and Mackenzie. A celebration of Sally's life will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Snelgrove home in Fayetteville, Ark. In lieu of flowers, Sally's wishes were for donations to be made to Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale, Ark. or the American Heart Association. Online tributes may be made to the family of Sally McAtee at www.bentoncountymemorialpark.com. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home and Crematory of Rogers, Ark.
