CDR Billy Bryan Williams, 69, of Maumelle, Ark. passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010. He was born on September 6, 1941 in Searcy, A, the oldest son of Dr. W.J.B. and Lorene Kloss Williams. He grew up in Cotton Plant, Ark. where he graduated high school, attended the University of Arkansas in 1959 before entering the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He graduated in the top 5% of his 1964 class with a degree in general Engineering. Later in his naval career, he attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. obtaining master of science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Ocean Engineering. His career as a Naval Officer included duty in surface operations on destroyers USS LAWE DD -763, USS DAMATO DD-871 and USS BIGELOW DD-942. He also served as Docking Officer, Boston Naval Shipment in the restoration of the USS CONSTITUTION (Old Ironsides) in 1973. He completed his active tour of duty as Officer in Charge, Planning & Engineering for repairs & alterations (Cruisers & Destroyers), Philadelphia, Pa. After 22 years of Naval service and subsequent retirement, he was employed with Cassady & Co., an Industrial Automation Distributor in Little Rock, Ark. where he spent the next 20 years as a Professional Engineer in a sales capacity and as an applications engineer. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosemary, two brothers, Jerry G. Williams and wife Mary Sue of Atlanta, Ga., Jim Williams and wife, Mary, of Cabot, Ark. Other surviving family members include an uncle, Ray Kloss & wife, Leona, of Beebe, Ark., several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Bill & Rosemary are long time members of Agape Church, Little Rock, Ark. Funeral services will be held at Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, (501)224-8300 located at 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 with visitation at 9 a.m., preceding the service.
