GREENWOOD -- Anna Trusty earned two state-wide awards in as many days this past week after wrapping up a stellar four-year career.

The three-time state champion and championship game Most Valuable Player was named the MaxPreps Arkansas Girls Player of the Year on Wednesday and the prestigious Gatorade Arkansas Girls Player of the Year on Thursday.

"She's worked hard her whole career, and she's had a great career," Greenwood Coach Clay Reeves said. "It's a well-deserved award for her. It's great for her, it's great for our program and it's great for our school."

Trusty scored 18 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, doled out 3 assists and made a steal in a 77-51 win over Vilonia in the Class 5A championship game to earn the MVP award.

The Lady Bulldogs have won the last three state titles in Class 5A and in those three championship games, Trusty scored a combined 59 points, had 15 rebounds and 11 steals.

"She's been a great teammate, and she's had great teammates," Reeves said. "That's what makes happen at the end happen."

Trusty was a model of consistency throughout her career but especially in 5A-West play where she scored in double digits 48 of 56 conference games, averaged 16.8 points in those 56 conference games and led the conference in scoring as both a sophomore and a junior.

"She was always a great scorer when the ball wasn't in her hand," Reeves said. "She handled the ball a lot, but she scored most of her points within what we were doing and offensive rebounds and steals. She didn't have the ball in her hand a lot of times when we came across halfcourt, but she eventually got it and found it. If things weren't going well on offense for her, she would go get rebounds or steals. That was part of her consistency. She would find other ways to get it done."

In 14 state tournament games over Trusty's career, Greenwood went 13-1 and she averaged 16.9 points and was double digits in scoring her final 11 games in state tournament play.

For her career, Trusty scored 1,964 points and is Greenwood's all-time leading scorer.
