Serious reasons against

voting for ex-president

As the 2024 election approaches, it is crucial that we citizens reflect on the direction we want our country to move forward. Recent history has shown the consequences of our choices, particularly when it comes to selecting our nation's leader. As such, I feel compelled to express my concerns about the potential dangers of voting for Donald Trump in 2024.

Donald Trump's presidency was marked by controversy, chaos, and division. His approach to governance was characterized by erratic decision-making and disregard for democratic norms. Despite these glaring shortcomings, some may still be tempted to support him again. However, it is imperative to heed the warnings of those who served alongside him in the highest echelons of power.

Former chiefs of staff and defense secretaries have expressed grave concerns about Donald Trump's fitness for office. Gen. John Kelly, Trump's former chief of staff, once remarked that working for Trump was "the worst [expletive] job I've ever had." Similarly, Gen. James Mattis, former secretary of defense, warned that Trump's actions could undermine the very foundations of our democracy. These are not partisan attacks; rather, they are sober assessments from individuals who have witnessed Trump's leadership up close.

Trump's erratic behavior and lack of respect for democratic institutions pose a significant threat to our nation's stability and security. His penchant for impulsivity and disregard for expert advice could have catastrophic consequences, both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, his divisive rhetoric has fueled polarization and exacerbated societal tensions.

In addition to his leadership style, Trump's track record on key issues should give voters pause. His mishandling of the covid-19 pandemic led to unnecessary loss of life and economic hardship. His environmental policies endangered our planet's future, while his immigration policies disregarded basic human rights. These are not the qualities of a leader who deserves another chance to govern.

As we approach the 2024 election, we must remember the lessons of the past and choose a path forward that prioritizes competence, integrity and unity.

Kelly described Trump as "a person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. There is nothing more that can be said. God help us."

Former Vice President Mike Pence said: "The American people deserve to know that President Trump asked me to put him over my oath to the Constitution. ... Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be president of the United States."

A suggested site

for new landfill

Regarding the editorial "Up in the Air" published on March 10, it seems to me that there is an obvious solution to the Tontitown landfill problem. It is at the southwest corner of Highway 612 and Interstate 49. At that corner there is a huge rock quarry. There is already truck access for the dump trucks that remove the rock, and there don't seem to be many nearby residential areas. The site is jut a few miles from the current landfill in Tontitown.

Why not begin the process of changing the rock quarry into a landfill?
