Trusty named to media super team

GREENWOOD – The accolades continue for Greenwood's Anna Trusty.

Trusty was named to the Arkansas Sports Media Girls Basketball Super Team on Friday.

Trusty was last week named both the state's Gatorade and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Girls Player of the Year.

Trusty is Greenwood's all-time leading scorer with 1,964 points and led the Lady Bulldogs to three-straight Class 5A state championships. She was named the Most Valuable Player after Greenwood's 77-51 win over Vilonia in the championship game.

She was also selected to the Super Team last year and was honorable mention as a sophomore.

Lamar junior Kori Sanders was selected for the second team and Northside's Erianna Gooden and Mansfield's Kaylee Ward were selected as honorable mention.

Sanders led Lamar to the second round of the Class 3A state tournament and scored 26 points in a 45-42 in over Valley Springs in the first round. She led Lamar to a 27-7 mark, averaging 18.3 points, 7.3 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Gooden, a junior, guided Northside to the 6A-West outright conference championship, finishing 26-4 overall and averaging 19.4 points per game. She scored 27 points in a loss to eventual state champion Little Rock Central in the second round of the state tournament, going over the 1,400-point mark for her career in the game.

Ward, a 6-3 sophomore, helped Mansfield to a 32-1 record and to the Class 2A championship game. She averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game.
