Man hit, injured while crossing street in Springdale

SPRINGDALE -- A man who was hit by a vehicle Sunday night while crossing the street in the area of Old Missouri Road and Huntsville Avenue was hospitalized with serious, but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers were called to the area around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release from Sgt. Matt Ray with the Springdale Police Department. The officers found a 49-year-old man lying in the eastbound traffic lane of Huntsville Avenue. The man was taken to a local hospital.

Police said the driver of the vehicle told officers the man ran into the street in front of him. Driver impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the incident and no charges for the driver are expected, according to the press release.

The accident was still under investigation and no other information was available Monday morning, according to Ray.
