Happy birthday (Jan. 21): The year is a magic elevator, raising you quickly through levels of wisdom and knowledge. You're doing your thing, yet well aware of your key role in the lives of others. You'll seize every chance to make the story more interesting.

ARIES (March 21-April 19): Just when you are about to give up on being understood, someone gets on your wavelength. Good. This is only the start. Put the word out and you'll attract more to your way of thinking.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Waiting is one of the things you enjoy the least, and your anticipation seems to make the wait even longer. Find a way to distract yourself. The wait won't be shorter, but it will seem shorter.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21): You'll be doling out compliments. Comparative statements will only cheapen the message, so focus on the experience or person you want to praise. Conversational nuances class up your interactions.

CANCER (June 22-July 22): The word "comfort" is rooted in the Latin "com," meaning "together," and "fortis," meaning "strengthen." By offering a sense of security, relief or consolation to another you both become stronger, as does the bond between you.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): It's OK to have regrets. It comes with being a decisive person. Allow yourself a few of them, but, as in the Sinatra song, "too few to mention." Even bad decisions have some kind of plus side. Look for it.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Status is the unspoken organizer of social groups. Take too low a position and you could be mistaken for a doormat; too high a position makes you a target. For now, go for the middle. That's where the fun is.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23): What's given is not always a gift. This is especially true with advice, which can be more about posturing than actual help. People pretend they know, but there's better information in books, articles and online videos. Start there.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21): You'll use your talents and cause excitement. Some will be enthralled witnesses, others competitive contenders, and many will be inspired to unleash their own talent.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Some connections are immediately helpful. Others grow stronger with time. Many connections never quite live up to their potential if they come to fruition at all. Your social world is made up of all kinds, so keep reaching out.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): You are not on the outside looking in, though sometimes it does feel as though your face is pressed against the glass. When you get that feeling, turn around and look at the whole vast world behind you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): There was a time you had no choice, or at least very limited options. Oh, how the tides have turned. Now you're in a position to be discerning and selective. This is your chance to get precisely what you want.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Use context clues to orient yourself in a situation. Reality is what's happening, not what's talked about. Be aware of other people's need to appear smart and powerful. Most powerful people don't need to advertise it.

TIGER’S EXIT: The Year of the Tiger is coming to a close as the Rabbit Year nears. While tigers symbolize courage, bravery, strength and swagger, rabbit luck focuses on timing, creativity and the sort of prosperity that comes from wit and charm rather than sheer power. If you needed an excuse for a change of approach or image, begin the glow-up!

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Jeremy Shada stars in blockbuster movies and popular television but rarely gets recognized on the street. Having the best of both worlds is a perk of voiceover actors, and Shada is among the acclaimed for his lovable portrayals like Finn the Human of “Adventure Time” and Tom Kullersen of “Dragons: The Nine Realms.” Natal Mercury, Venus and Neptune in assertive Capricorn are a complement to Shada’s Sun, Jupiter and Uranus in Aquarius.
