Waldo, Rogers motorists killed in 2 traffic accidents

Two Arkansans died after single-vehicle accidents early this week, according to Arkansas Department of Public Safety fatal accident summaries.

Shane Garner, 29, of Rogers, died after his 2002 Jeep Cherokee struck a curb at a high rate of speed north on South Walton Boulevard near Southwest A Street in Benton at 1:52 p.m. Sunday, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree, a summary said.

Garner was taken to Northwest Medical Center Bentonville where he was pronounced dead, according to the summary.

Waldo resident Charles Smelser, 27, died when his 2012 Toyota left the roadway on County Road 13 in McNeil at 4:33 a.m. Monday and hit a tree, according to a summary.

Coroner Randy Reed pronounced Smelser dead, according to the summary.
