FAYETTEVILLE -- Tonight's City Council meeting has been rescheduled to 5:30 p.m. Thursday because of "extreme weather-related considerations," according to a city news release.

All agenda items will be pushed to Thursday's meeting, which will be held online on Zoom.

Items include proposed regulations for short-term rentals, a contract for the lot northwest of Dickson Street and West Avenue where the parking deck associated with the arts corridor is planned, a rezoning and annexation proposal for land east of Zion and Crossover roads.

The news release says Mayor Lioneld Jordan decided to reschedule because of potential rolling blackouts and interruptions in internet service, causing attendees to lose access to the meeting. Additionally, only essential employees are working at the city offices, and the meeting would not have been broadcast on the Fayetteville Government Channel, YouTube or the city website.

An announcement will be made by no later than 3 p.m. Thursday if the weather causes another change in the schedule, according to the release.

To see the city's public meeting calendar and register to attend online meetings on Zoom, go to fayetteville-ar.gov/meetingcalendar. People who registered for Tuesday's meeting do not need to sign up again for Thursday's meeting.
