FAYETTEVILLE -- A federal jury has found Josh Duggar guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Duggar, 33, of Springdale, was charged in federal court with two counts involving receiving and possessing child pornography. The jury found him guilty on both counts. He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 on each count.

In the federal system, juries in criminal cases do not address the issue of punishment. U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks will sentenced Duggar in about four months.

During sentencing, the court may consider U.S. Sentencing Commission guidelines, evidence produced at trial and relevant information provided in a presentencing report and from the U.S. attorney and the defense attorney.

Prosecutors told jurors child pornography was repeatedly downloaded on the computer at Duggar's used car lot on May 14, 15 and 16, 2019.

Duggar contended he didn't do it, and the defense suggested a remote user may have downloaded the child porn on Duggar's computer.

Duggar did not to testify during the trial.

Duggar, best known for being part of his family's cable television reality show, was accused of using the internet in May 2019 to download and possess the material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children younger than 12, according to court documents.

The headline of the story has been changed due to needed clarification. Duggar faces up to 20 years in prison for each count. The previous headline was "Josh Duggar found guilty of downloading child porn, faces up to 20 years in prison."
