UPDATE:

As a snow system continues moving east across Northwest Arkansas Tuesday afternoon, forecasters say the region could see record low temperatures overnight.

Parts of the region reported visibility under one mile Tuesday in addition to some light snow accumulation on grassy surfaces, according to a social media post by the National Weather Service.

A freeze warning has been issued from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. in the region, including the River Valley. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 24 degrees.

The current lowest temperature on record for April 21 in Fayetteville is 29 degrees, according to the service's site. That record was set in 1966.

A wintry mix and temperatures in the mid-20s are possible over the next 24 hours in Northwest Arkansas, forecasters say.

Rain with possible light snow is expected in Fayetteville and other Northwest Arkansas cities between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the services' site.

A freeze warning has been issued for early Wednesday in the region, including the River Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

A low temperature of 24 degrees is expected between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. A high of 45 degrees is forecast for Tuesday in Fayetteville.
