Man, 40, charged in child sex case

TEXARKANA -- A man accused of sexually abusing a girl from age 12 to age 14 has been arrested on five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault, according to a probably cause affidavit.

Jedediah Stonestreet, 40, was arrested last week and accused of molesting a girl who was living with him part time but was not his biological child, the affidavit states. Stonestreet posted bond and is no longer detained in the Miller County jail, officials confirmed Tuesday.

The girl, now 14, told a family member that she had been sexually abused, and the family member contacted law enforcement, the affidavit states. The girl told a forensic interviewer at the Texarkana Children's Advocacy Center that Stonestreet first touched her sexually when she was 12 and began having sex with her when she was 13.

The girl said she was moved to step forward because the abuse "was getting worse," and she feared he might molest younger children to whom he had access, the affidavit states.

An 8-year-old girl also lived in the Texarkana house at the same time as the alleged victim.

Each of the five counts of rape is punishable by 10 to 40 years or life in prison.
