Heartland Summit postponed to fall

Bentonville's Heartland Summit scheduled for mid-April has been postponed to sometime in the fall because of concerns about the coronavirus.

The invitation-only event hosted by Heartland Forward focuses on economic growth in the central U.S.

Heartland Forward is a Walton-family-backed research institute that describes itself as a "think and do tank," with an emphasis on the "do."

Angie Cooper, Heartland Summit executive director, confirmed Friday that the event wouldn't be held this spring and that the attendees had been notified of the change.

According to the Heartland Forward website, the event was postponed "after careful consideration," and a rescheduled date, along with an updated lineup of speakers, informational sessions and artists would be made available as soon as possible.

The first Heartland Summit was held in October 2018 and the second was in April 2019 and drew about 400 participants.
