YOU SHOULD BE DANCING (IN DREAMLAND)

Dreamland Ballroom's boogie night beneficial

Former dance winners were invited back to the Dreamland Ballroom for a Tournament of Champions at the 10th annual Dancing into Dreamland on Nov. 15.

Winning the judges' choice award was Vogue and the people's choice was Hot Springs Dance Troupe.

Also returning to compete were the O'Donovan School of Irish Dance, New Creation Dance Company, Mike and Kim Nelson, Mirana Middle Eastern Dance Company and Sarah and Rick Pinedo. Judging the dance routines were Christen Burke Pitts, David Miller and Amy Kelley Bell.

Serving as the evening's emcees were KATV Channel 7 reporter Marine Glisovic and KLAL-FM, 107.7, personality Poolboy. Speaking about the mission and vision of Friends of the Dreamland were board member Ryk St. Vincent, founder Kerry McCoy and director Matthew McCoy.

The evening included a silent auction and an exhibition by hula hoop performer Katie Sunshine and spoken-word poet Chris James.

The event is a fundraiser for the restoration and preservation of historic Dreamland Ballroom and Taborian Hall.
