• Former national security adviser John Bolton has a book deal, The Associated Press has learned. Bolton departed in September because of numerous foreign-policy disagreements with President Donald Trump. He reached a deal over the past few weeks with Simon & Schuster, according to three publishing officials with knowledge of negotiations. The officials were not authorized to discuss the deal publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. Two of the officials said the deal was worth about $2 million. Bolton was represented by the Javelin literary agency, whose clients include former FBI Director James Comey and the anonymous Trump administration official whose book, A Warning, comes out Nov. 19. The publishing officials did not know the title or release date. Simon & Schuster declined comment Saturday and Javelin did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Bolton's 2007 book, Surrender is Not an Option: Defending America at the United Nations and Abroad, was published by the conservative Simon & Schuster imprint Threshold Editions.

Woody Allen and Amazon settled a breach-of-contract lawsuit that the director had filed after the company backed out of a four-picture movie deal because sexual-assault allegations against him from the 1990s had resurfaced. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed in a one-page filing Friday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. The filing said the lawsuit had been voluntarily dismissed with prejudice. Lawyers for Allen and Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday. Allen, 83, sued Amazon in February, accusing the company of reneging on a lucrative commitment for him to make four films. The Hollywood division of Amazon, the Seattle conglomerate founded by Jeff Bezos, severed its ties with Allen in June 2018. The company cited a renewed focus on sexual-assault allegations against Allen, primarily those that he had molested his daughter Dylan Farrow in 1992, when she was 7. Allen has denied the allegations and has not been charged with any crime. The misconduct allegations against Allen arose during a child custody battle between Allen and his former partner, Mia Farrow. The feud between Allen, a three-time Academy Award winner, and Amazon is another product of the #MeToo era in the movie industry, politics, media and business. A key figure in exposing sexual-misconduct cases has been journalist Ronan Farrow, a son of Mia Farrow and Allen who has sided with his mother and sister. Allen's lawsuit said that Amazon was aware of the allegations against him when it entered into four deals with the director.
