• Although every sheriff in the state was notified yesterday to be on the lookout for the three convicts who escaped from the Arkansas penitentiary late Tuesday night, officials at the institution late last night had received no trace of the men. It is believed that they will attempt to get out of the state. ... John T. Burkett, secretary of the Penitentiary Commission, and in charge of the "walls," yesterday forwarded to all Arkansas sheriffs descriptions and photographs of the men. A reward of $50 is offered by the state for the arrest of each. Mr. Burkett believes they intend to steal an automobile to assist them in escaping. ... The failure of one of the prison guards to obey instructions made possible the escapes, according to Mr. Burkett. He said the guard inside the stockade had been instructed to examine the bars over every window immediately after going on duty. The guard failed to make the examination Tuesday night. The bars had been sawed sometime during the day, it is believed.

She was selected Wednesday from a group of 112 hopefuls at Arkansas Idol, a local audition hosted by KFTA-TV, Northwest Arkansas' Fox network affiliate, at Rogers' Little Theater.
