Northwest Arkansas under winter weather advisory

Northwest Arkansas will be under a winter weather advisory starting around 10 p.m.

A wintry mix is anticipated, with snow and sleet accumulations of a couple tenths of an inch and a light glaze of ice in some areas, according to the National Weather Service in Tulsa. Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.

Rain, freezing rain and sleet are likely before midnight, according to the forecast. There's a slight chance of freezing drizzle between midnight and 3 a.m. A low temperature of 22 degrees is expected. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

The advisory should last until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Counties under the advisory include Benton, Washington, Madison and Carroll. Cities that could be affected are Rogers, Bentonville, Berryville, Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, Springdale and Huntsville, among others.

Wednesday's forecast will be mostly cloudy, gradually becoming sunny, with a high of 34 degrees. Wind chill values are expected between 10 and 20.
