BOSTON COLLEGE 87, NO. 11 FLORIDA STATE 82

BOSTON -- Ky Bowman scored 37 points and Jordan Chatman gave Boston College the lead for good by hitting three consecutive three-pointers during a 21-4 run to start the second half, and the Eagles held on to beat No. 11 Florida State 87-82 on Sunday.

The Seminoles (13-5, 1-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) lost their third consecutive game in a week since climbing to the cusp of The Associated Press Top 10.

Boston College (10-7, 1-4) led by nine with 1:27 left before a pair of turnovers against the full-court press allowed Florida State to make it a four-point game. But Wynston Tabbs made a three-pointer with 24 seconds remaining to turn back the rally and snap the Eagles' five-game losing streak.

Mfiondu Kabengele had 26 points and nine rebounds for Florida State.

Chatman, who went 0 for 5 from the field in the first half, scored 15 of his 17 points in the second -- making all 5 three-pointers he attempted after the break.

With a snowstorm that dropped up to 7 inches on the area over Saturday night and into the morning, a sparse crowd at the Conte Forum came to life only in the second half, when Chatman hit three consecutive from beyond the arc to give the Eagles a 57-50 lead they never relinquished.

Bowman scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds in the first half, when BC opened a 19-13 lead before the Seminoles scored eight consecutive points in 70 seconds to go in front. After Bowman gave the Eagles a 24-23 edge, Florida State scored 12 in a row and 17 of the next 18 points.

NO. 15 MARQUETTE 79, PROVIDENCE 68

MILWAUKEE -- Sam Hauser scored 25 points, Markus Howard added 24 points and 9 rebounds, and Marquette rallied past Providence.

After honoring former star Dwyane Wade with a celebration that included a halftime tribute, Marquette (16-3, 5-1 Big East) surged and improved to 13-0 at home.

Nate Watson tied his career high with 21 points for Providence (11-7, 1-4).

Providence came in having won three of the last four meetings, including the last two at the Bradley Center. This was their first matchup at the new Fiserv Forum.

Marquette is known for its defense at home, but Providence turned up the pressure. The Friars hounded and slapped at each Golden Eagles' possession, allowing just 7 baskets on 25 attempts (28 percent), including 5 of 14 from three-point range.

NO. 23 IOWA 95, ILLINOIS 71

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Freshman Joe Wieskamp matched a career high with 24 points and Iowa routed Illinois for its fifth consecutive victory.

Isaiah Moss scored a season-high 21 points and Luka Garza added 20 for the Hawkeyes (16-3, 5-3 Big Ten). They shot 68 percent, hit 12 of their first 14 three-point attempts and 15 overall.

Iowa shot 68.4 percent in the first half to jump ahead 39-24. Moss, Jordan Bohannon and Wieskamp then buried consecutive threes to open the second half, and Moss capped that blistering run with a contested three near the Iowa bench to make it a 68-45 game.

Wieskamp and Moss combined to go 10 for 10 on threes during that stretch.

Ayo Dosunmu scored 15 points for Illinois (5-13, 1-6).
