3 reported deaths raise flu toll to 14

Three more flu-related deaths were reported to the state in the past week, bringing the total number of deaths linked to the current flu season to 14, the state Department of Health reported Tuesday.

Of the latest deaths, two people were 65 or older and one was between the ages of 45 and 64.

The other deaths so far this season were of four people age 65 or older, six people age 45-64 and one child under age 5.

At about the same point during the previous flu season, Arkansas had recorded 49 deaths.

By the end of that season, 227 people had died, making it the state's deadliest flu season in decades.

The flu season generally runs from October through May.
