Variety is the spice of life

Get it with a helping of real customer service at Richard’s Country Meat Market

It's easy to get stuck in a routine; cooking what you know, week after week. Luckily, there's a local hero in Northwest Arkansas whose goal is to help you break away from this. Treat yourself right and introduce something new to your grill this year.

Richard McGinnis has dedicated his adult life to providing the superior meats and customer service that he does today. He started young, at age 16, and has over 45 years of experience from which he offers sage advice to those seeking the finest ingredients, recipes, and cooking techniques. He and a partner opened the original Country Time Meat Shoppe at 3042 N. Market Avenue in Fayetteville over 25 years ago. In 1997, McGinnis took over and made it his own family business, and renamed it Richard's Country Meat Market.

Richard's has much more to offer than just an amazing variety of high-quality meats and seafood. They have party trays and sliced meats and cheeses from their full-service deli; hot soups, wraps, and sandwiches for lunch (made extra delicious with fresh house-baked breads, rolls and desserts); countless herbs, spices, and marinades, and so much more. Of course they have all the grillable bases covered as well: with beef, pork, sausages, burgers, chicken, ham, lamb, veal, specialty meats, fish and seafood all available in-store.

The bacon-wrapped tenderloin filets, and their fresh-ground Seasoned Burgers (including the must-try Bison Burger) are the biggest hits among their loyal return customers. I asked the owner what keeps people coming back and, if you're one who knows about this goldmine already, his answer won't surprise you. "We're the only place you can get Chairman's Reserve beef in Fayetteville," said McGinnis of his top-choice and prime-rated steaks from Tyson-owned IBP. "It's customer service and quality that separate us from the competition."

If you're looking for a fresh catch, you can expect the same trusted quality and variety from Richard's seafood selection. With 8-12 varieties of fresh fish available in a given day; they carry quite a collection, including: Yellowfin Tuna, Red Snapper, Sea Bass, Swordfish, Catfish, Tilapia, Wahoo, seasonal wild Salmon and more. They have numerous frozen fish options including Mahi Mahi; and maintain a huge variety of shellfish, shrimp platters, and dipping sauces.

To assist you on your culinary ventures in this new year, Richard's Country Meat Market has assembled a tried-and-true recipe collection to go along with its meat variety. Their shelves are stocked with all the condiments, marinades, and herbs you'll need to spice things up; and they've got all the hardest-to-find products as well as the best-selling ones. Some products you won't find anywhere else. Richard's crack-team of bakers and chefs have spent years perfecting their behind-the-scenes crafts to bring you a fresh selection of house-made sides, baked goods and desserts to compliment any entrée.

The coup de grâce to put your tired dinner routine to rest is this: even when you don't want to cook, you can swing by Richard's on your way home and snag dinner for the whole family. Take your pick from their Foods-To-Go and Quick-To-Fix selections, or find the grab-and-go cooler containing convenient, ready to heat-and-eat dinners from Richard's kitchen that are just $5.00 each, and on a weekly rotation.
