A North Little Rock dentist was arrested Monday on charges accusing him of billing the state Medicaid program for services he didn't provide, Attorney General Leslie Rutledge said.
Brian Moore, 47, is accused of billing the program for about $9,000 worth of services that he didn't provide between Jan. 24, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2017, Rutledge said in a news release.
Mary Bowen, an investigator with Rutledge's office, said in an affidavit she began investigating Moore after audits by Managed Care of North America and Delta Dental, which provide dental benefits to Medicaid recipients.
The audits found Moore billed for services he didn't provide and billed for procedures that weren't medically necessary, Bowen wrote.
Bowen said her own review found he had provided false information on 17 patients, most of whom were minors, to justify services such as amalgam and resin composite fillings.
Moore was arrested at his office on one felony and one misdemeanor count of Medicaid fraud, Rutledge said. The felony count is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. The misdemeanor count is punishable by up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,500.
