BENTONVILLE -- Walmart will donate 75 acres of land to the city to be developed into a park at the intersection of Southwest Eighth and I streets, according to a news release.

The new park will span nearly 100 acres when combined with a nearly 23-acre donation from members of the Walton family announced earlier, according to the release.

The Walton Family Foundation has given a grant to support the design and development of the park, according to the release. The city wants public input on possible park features and will seek that input in the first half of next year, according to the release.

"The Eighth Street property will become the epicenter of our parks and trails network. The location, the access and visibility are the perfect recipe for a destination park to serve our residents and attract visitors for generations to come," David Wright, Bentonville director of Parks and Recreation, said in the news release.
