Local Notes: Upcoming civic and charitable events in NWA

Courtesy photo Holiday Retirement in Springdale celebrated National Active Senior Citizen Day with many events including "Minute-to-Win-It" games. Local providers ran the games and brought prizes and giveaways. "Wrap the Maintenance Man" was everyone's favorite game. A tie-breaker was held to determine first, second and third place winners. Participants had to stand in the atrium with a book on their head until there were only three left. The last two ladies held their own and had to turn in circles, wave their arms and do knee bends (one is 96 years old). Medals were awarded and cookie bouquets, and everyone was treated to ice cream from the ice cream truck.
