FAYETTEVILLE -- It's time to clear the shelter.

Fayetteville Animal Services will waive adoption fees Friday and Saturday as part of the nationwide Clear the Shelters initiative.

The initiative tries to help families adopt homeless pets and has put 256,888 pets in homes since 2015, according to a city news release.

The shelter at 1640 S. Armstrong Ave. will open at 10 a.m. on both days. Animal Services encourages people to fill out adoption applications in advance so staff has time to approve them beforehand. Pets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis during the event.

All of the available dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

Applications can be found at fayetteville-ar.gov/animals, or can be picked up at the shelter. For more information, call 444-3456 or email [email protected].
