Rhythm on the River fills 'off year' as ASO benefit

So, it's 2019 ... and no Symphony Designer House.

What to do? Twiddle one's thumbs until the next incarnation of the biennial fundraising house rears its pretty roof in 2020?

The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Guild came up with something better: Rhythm on the River, a benefit for the orchestra and its music education programs in schools.

The second Rhythm on the River took place April 12 in the ballroom of the Junior League of Little Rock's historic downtown headquarters. Michael Upson chaired the event, at which guests enjoyed a laid-back evening of cocktails and dinner by Gina's Catering, then worked off the calories consumed via dancing to oldies performed by the B-Flats.

The guild is made up of volunteers who support the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Last held in 2017, Rhythm on the River is designed to be a fundraiser for the orchestra in the "off years" between the Symphony Designer Houses.
