FAYETTEVILLE -- Police are looking for a man with a handgun who took an undisclosed amount of money Friday morning from the Centennial Bank, 3010 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Sgt. Anthony Murphy, public information officer, said the suspect was described as a white man in his 20s, wearing a black jacket and blue pants with a blue stripe down the side, and a bandana across his face.

Murphy said bank employees told officers the man left the bank through the back door and headed west on foot before turning north.

Police officers and Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies set up a perimeter and began searching the area. Murphy said officers were told the man may have gotten into a vehicle, but that wasn't certain.

Police said the robbery was reported at 8:42 a.m. and the first officers were on the scene within minutes of receiving the call.

The same bank was robbed Dec. 7, 2018, Murphy said. No arrests have been made in connection with that robbery.
